Exhibition curators Jo-Anne Driessens led this fascinating Yarning Circle at Caloundra Regional Gallery on 16 Nov 2024, as part of the Carbon_Dating exhibition tour. The Yarning Circle was introduced by Caloundra Regional Gallery Director Jo Duke, and the speakers were Carbon Dating artists Pipier Weller and Jason Murphy (Somerset) and Liz Capelin, Kilagi Nielsen and Mia Hacker (Sunshine Coast).
Exhibition curator Sarah Johnson (Longreach Museum of Art @ Qantas Founder Centre, Longreach, Qld) led this insightful artist and guest talk on 15/3/25, as part of the Carbon_Dating exhibition tour opening.
The talk was introduced by Qantas Founders Centre Tony Cullen; we were welcomed to Country by Iningai traditional owner Tony Weldon, and the talk involved exhibition Firts Nations consultant and co-curator Jo-Anne Driessens, plus Carbon_Dating artists Keith Armstrong, donna davis, joined by local regenerative grazier and activist Jody Brown.
Carbon_Dating is an experimental artwork designed to seed ‘consensual’ partnerships between Australian native grasses and humans, based upon their shared need to breathe each other’s ‘exhaled’ air.
We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the many lands on which we live, work and create, including our collaborators on Yirrganydji, Barunggam, Jagera/Yuggera, Turbal, Ugarapul, Jinibara, Kabi Kabi and Kombumerri Country.
